RIDGEVIEW — The North Ridge Transportation Authority today released the Draft 2050 Regional Transportation Plan, the region's long-range blueprint for roads, transit, trails, and safety improvements. The Board of Directors authorized the release at its September 10 meeting.
The draft plan forecasts $7.9 billion in transportation revenue between 2027 and 2050 and proposes directing nearly half of it to maintaining existing roads, bridges, and transit vehicles. It also sets a goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries on regional roadways by 2050.
“This plan reflects what we heard from more than 3,400 residents over the past two years,” said Board Chair Denise Okafor. “People told us they want safer streets, well-maintained roads, and better ways to get to work and medical appointments without a car. We want to hear whether the draft gets that balance right.”
