The North Ridge Transportation Authority is the metropolitan planning organization and regional transportation authority for four counties and 42 cities and towns. NRTA prepares the long-range transportation plan, programs federal and regional funds, and delivers major capital projects with member governments.

Draft 2050 Regional Transportation Plan

The draft plan sets regional priorities for $7.9 billion in forecast transportation revenue through 2050. The Board of Directors will hold a public hearing and consider adoption on November 12, 2026.

Regional goals in the draft 2050 plan

Safety
Eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries on regional roadways by 2050.
Maintenance
Bring 90 percent of regional roads and bridges to good or fair condition.
Transit access
Increase the share of residents within a half mile of frequent transit from 38 to 55 percent.
Reliability
Hold peak travel times on key freight and commuter corridors at 2025 levels.
Connected communities
Complete the 310-mile regional trail and bikeway network.
