Purpose and need
Replace an on-street transfer area that lacks shelter and accessible boarding space with a single facility where riders can transfer between regional services without crossing a four-lane street.
Project overview
Ridgeview Union Station is the busiest transfer point in the region, serving nine Ridge Transit routes, two intercity coach operators, and the Ridgeview Downtown Circulator. The existing on-street transfer area lacks shelter, has limited accessible boarding space, and requires riders to cross Commerce Street to change routes.
Proposed improvements
- Twelve accessible bus bays with level boarding and real-time arrival displays
- An enclosed, climate-controlled waiting area with public restrooms
- A 60-dock bike share station and secure bicycle parking for 120 bicycles
- Dedicated curb space for paratransit, on-demand transit, and passenger pick-up
- Pedestrian crossing improvements on Commerce Street and 3rd Avenue
Environmental review
An Environmental Assessment has been prepared in coordination with the Federal Transit Administration. The document is available for public review through October 1, 2026, and a public open house will be held on September 29, 2026.
